Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Suchots" 2002, Jacques Cacheux

Les Suchots is considered to be one of the top 1ers crus in Vosne due to its proximity to the grands crus. I bought this at the domaine in 2005. Initially chalky, there is plum, black cherry, rye bread. A typical big 2002. Meaty, rib eye, savoury, like a rich gravy. Peppery, big tannins, square structure, potent tannins, ripe black fruits laced with lineaments of alcohol. A serious, big pinot, four square and brooding. Drinking well now but may evolve towards more faisandage.
