Marsannay 2007, Geantet-Pansiot
I tasted at the Geantet-Pansiot domaine in July 2009 and was impressed by the quality of the fruit and the concentration in the wines (not the same thing as extraction). This Marsannay is from the potentially tricky 2007 vintage which was characterised by a precocious spring (the vines were 3 weeks ahead of the normal growing cycle by the end of April) and then a cloudy and cool summer. Slightly gamey nose with hints of vanilla. This Marsannay is rounded with flavours of plum skins, apple and even a line of lemon. The second impact on the palate is more on raspberries, red currant and pomegranite. Well integrated tannins. Very enjoyable.
