Meursault-Perrières 1er Cru 2007, Joseph Drouhin
This Meursault was a generous gift from James Simpson MW which we didn't manage to consume during a recent Cambridge reunion dinner. Domaine Joseph Drouhin is in the top flight of Beaune negociants. This Meursault has a clean citrus and mineral nose with sweet background oak. Full flavour layers of orange, apricot, apple with good thickness on the finish. After 30 minutes in the glass the wine fills out with a creamy texture and a robust savoury finish. Hints of pine and hazelnut to boot! This is a serious wine which will hit maturity in 2014-2015. Contender for the Meursault heavyweight belt. Tasted with sea bream, scallop and prawn medley in Hampstead heights.
