Pouilly-Fuissé 2008, Château de Pierreclos

I find that Pouilly-Fuissé wines are tremendously reliable most likely because of the excellent terroir and the sunny climes of the Maconnais. This 2008 Pouilly-Fuissé is a splendid example of what this southern Burgundy appellation has to offer. A lovely thick, cooked apple colour announces a tree fruit and savoury oak nose. Additional spots of white honey, orange, apricot. Clearly has aromatic development potential since the bouquet is gentle and has not yet evolved into a tertiary stage. This chardonnay explodes on the palate with gorgeous orange, clementine and plum fruit. Sappy and snappy. A lively little number which will peak in 2013. Perfect companion for roast guinea fowl or partridge.
