Hautes-Côtes de Beaune 2008, Domaine Parigot
This is the first time I have visited Domaine Parigot in Meloisey and what a pleasant surprise. Refreshing aswell following a 20km cycle ride from Puligny. The dégustation started with this Hautes-Côtes chardonnay from 2008. This is actually a vieilles vignes wine, testimony to how long these vines have been around for, with an average age of 40 years. Puissant, mineral, good lemon and lime flavours fresh and lively like a frisky newt. Photo shows meadow flowers and vineyard just outside Meloisey where the wine hails from. Look at this image, take a long philosophical look, and ask yourself: "Where was Claude Monet today?"
