Beaune 1er Cru "Les Aigrots" 2007, Sébastien Magnien

Like the Meursault, this pinot is aged just 15% in fûts de chêne neufs, thank the Lord. Enticing nose of raspberry and licorice. Medium weight, plummy, slightly roasted tastes from the barrel toast, good minerality and mid-palate depth. Very pleasant now and would certainly be a good choice in a restaurant with a gigot d'agneau or dare I say rognons de veau; especially given the very friendly cellar-door price. Photo shows Beaune vineyards looking south (towards Pommard) August 2010.
