Saint-Aubin "Les Choilles" 2007 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

This may be the first ever tasting from a domaine where the producer has a double-barreled Christian name and family name. Whatever next! Well, pretty interesting to find a "Colin" in Saint-Aubin since he must have swum up the valley from Chassage where the family is a force to be reckoned with. My general view on 2007 is that it is super in white - nervous, mineral, citrus, fresh -- and problematic in red for exactly the same reasons. This Saint-Aubin is a bright red transparent colour which looks fresh and vibrant not deeply fruity. Interesting nose of pulverized mineral, hawthorn, cranberry and Scottish strawberry. Very refreshing on the palate, red cherry, raspberry dominated. A lively wine with punch at the end and opens up into more cherry and tart plum flavours. Will add more weight with time, "une belle reussite". Photo shows a close up of a pinot noir leaf on July 13th 2010.
