Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champ Gain" 2007, Etienne Sauzet

Another 1er Cru tasted sur place, the champ gain terroir is very different from the La Garenne -- more fruit-driven and less calcaire-dominated. Aged in 20% new oak barrels, this wine is produced from chardonnay vines with an average 55 years of age. Worth mentioning that many other producers would apply much more new oak to a wine like this. Aromas of pear and white peach continue onto the palate with tangerine and cherry juice. The superb Sauzet quality shines through with ripe fruit and minerality. Ready from 2012.
