Meursault 1er Cru "Les Genevrières" 2000, Bouchard Père & Fils

Anyone vaguely familiar with the wines of Burgundy will know that Bouchard Père et Fils is a vast domaine producing wine from 130 hectares of which 12 hectares are grands crus. This Meursault, from the tricky 2000 vintage, has a light gold colour and surprisingly juvenile aromas of concentrated lemon, oak, minerals and hawthorn blossom. Clean, oak spice, slightly astringent cherry flesh with a naughty element of Carry On Camping on the finish. Impressively fine evolution on the palate to crushed sea shells, salt, minerals, fresh acidity. Good balance. A goer until 2012.
