Courtesy of the Corney & Barrow Burgundy 2007 tasting. I was amazed to hear from Henri Darnat at the Corney & Barrow tasting in Knightsbridge that he doesn't age his premier cru Puligny in new oak cuves. Here's a man who doesn't give a monkeys about the American palate -- tally ho! And this Champs Gains hits the spot: lovely, nostril fur caressing aromas of apricot, springtime vines, orange blossom. Beautiful fruit worthy of a slightly camp Caravaggio portrait. Attractive fruit, nice length but will this lusty youth develop complexity?
