Vosne-Romanée 2004, Domaine Robert Arnoux

This domaine is a Vosne specialist. The colour of this 2004 is a pleasant red cherry which looks a tad dilute. The nose is immediately attractive it charms the nostril hairs: sweet wild strawberry, dried tomato in olive oil, violets and crushed dried cranberries. Really typical for the vintage and certainly makes 2004 smell like 2000. Good potency and length on the aromas. Very fresh berry fruit on the palate, tangy, medium tannins with a slight stalky edge and a delightful fresh flavour. I imagine this is the type of Burgundy Americans don't understand and European foodies praise. This wine was last tasted in June 2007 and its early promise is showing through today. More to offer through to 2010.
