Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Les Murgers Des Dents De Chien" 2002, Domaine Hubert Lamy

The first wine I tasted from this domaine was back in 1993 when I lived in Dijon. Since then I have visited every year and bought several cases. Consistent and splendid wines. This "Murger" from 2002 is just what I expect. It has a sharp edged, bright metallic white gold colour which is still reflective. Medium intense aromas of orange blossom, almond, cedar wood and white truffle oil. Tanatalising hints of dried banana and dried trompette mushrooms. There is real substance on the palate: taut citrus fruits with a juicy dose of pear surrounded by an impressive "charpente" from the oak barrel tannins. A pleasant longueur with an orange flavour. This Saint-Aubin is more muscle than finesse and offers another 3-4 years of evolution. Thankfuly I still have a half a case! Compare with the 2005 Murger from Vincent Girardin.
