Monthélie 1er Cru "Les Duresses" 2001, Georges Garaudet

Medium red colour with slightly orange rim. Raspberry, cooked mushroom, licorice, cassis nose. Very smooth on the palate with crushed and melded red and black berry fruit, sous bois. Potent blood orange. Balanced and fairly elegant. Shows how Monthélie benefits from its secondary evolution when the tannins soften. The photo shows Les Duresses on the slopes of the hill in February 2008.
