Etienne is the son of Hubert de Montille who brought the Volnay-based domaine to its current impressive quality level. The wines are aged in 15% new oak and the initial impression is of fudge, shortbread and a baked strawberry aroma. Excellent squashed red berry texture, astounding length and elegance. Promises gamey and spciy notes. Very well made and suprisingly inexpensive for a case bought in bond. Tasted at the Justerini & Brooks annual Burgundy tasting.
