Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Remilly" 2002, Domaine Hubert Lamy
This Saint-Aubin is a medium gold yellow colour which is reflective and thick. First nose, vanilla, warm lemons, orange sponge cake, fairly open. Then truffle, daffodil petals, mineral -- sylph-like elegance. After ten minutes tertiary aromas of sous bois, dried bracken and creme brulee. Medium acidity, rounded, fresh, peach and lemon fruit, perfect balance, silky rather than thick and an apple fruit finish. This splendid wine is at its apogee today and has so much fragrant complexity it would be a shame to imbibe with anything but grilled white fish like wild sea bream, skate or dover sole. En Remilly is a vineyard on the hill above the 1er Cru wines of Puligny and the elegant style is very similar to Puligny.
