Saint Aubin 2004, Hubert Lamy

This is a photo from 2005 of Olivier Lamy, who is in charge of wine-making now, in one of his vineyards. We tasted this wine blind in London. Medium-red colour, followed by a plum aroma, caramel and cloves, a soft toasted vanilla, and mint leaf. Rich fruit on the palate: cassis, strawberry, baked and a bit heavy rather than fresh. A more approachable style than some 2004s which can have a sour edge. Drinking very well now especially with game birds or corn-fed chicken.
